Kelsi's Insight on Education

About

My  name is Kelsi Wilcox. I graduated from Clarion University in December 2007. I am currently employed by Keystone School District in Knox, PA, as the 7th grade English teacher and I am a member of the Autism Team for the high school. I consider myself a life-long learner and enjoy taking classes, attending Professional Development seminars and listening to In-Service speakers. I just completed my first year teaching and look forward to what my second year will bring. I enjoy incorporating technology into my lessons and creating assignments where my students get hands on experience with technology. I am currently working towards my Masters in Education – Technology Concentration degree.

I live inKnox, PA. I am engaged to a guy that many refer to as “Chucko”. My wedding to this funny guy, that lives up to his humorous nickname fully, is in the works for July 30, 2011. I am a huge breast cancer activist, as my mother is a 4-year survivor of this disease. I am also an alumnae of Sigma Sigma Sigma.  I love surfing educational blogs and websites. I love ANYTHING that is country music and has a good beat that I can dance to. My favorites being Reba, Brooks and Dunn, Trace Atkins, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and Little Big Town. I’m very involved in volunteering and helping out my community, especially through Relay for Life, Sigma Sigma Sigma, The Ophelia Project and the 4-H Program. I enjoy walking, taking pictures, reading, swimming and geocaching.

Some of my favorite quotes are listed below…

– Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one — Malcom S. Forbes

Never underestimate that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world, indeed it’s the only thing that ever has. – Margaret Mead

“I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something; and I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do!”

~*Happiness is an attitude–We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same*~
